Client Case Study: Coco Kaboo
The Client
Coco Kaboo is a family operated business established in 2014. The inspiration for Coco Kaboo came when the business founder, Desiree, wanted an Assistance Dog “Kaboo” to help with her medical conditions. However, Desiree was allergic to Kaboo’s fur.
Desiree and her family worked to formulate a range of products that would naturally eliminate their odour. Thus, Coco Kaboo was born!
Since its initial inception, Coco Kaboo has grown into a successful business based out of the Gold Coast, however, their website wasn’t truly doing the brand justice.
Web 105 Creative has worked closely with Coco Kaboo to develop an aesthetically pleasing, profitable online store that truly embodies the Coco Kaboo brand.
Homepage Improvements
Old Website Homepage
- The purpose of the website is not entirely clear, it is clearly dog related, but in what way?
- The centre of the website could explain what the website is or what they sell, but instead most of the main screen is taken up by a pop-up box.
- No clear Coco Kaboo logo.
New Website Homepage
- You can tell immediately from the photo and the large text that the website sells fragrances and products for dogs.
- The Coco Kaboo brand and style is more apparent from a clearer logo and consistent colour palette.
- No pop up boxes interfere with the usability of the site, highly visible navigation pane.
Improved Shopping Experience
Many websites these days are not merely informative but also serve a commercial purpose. ECommerce is a booming industry, but when there is so much competition, it’s important to make sure your website ecommerce shopping experience is up to par.
Original Shopping Page
- The design is somewhat primitive, reminiscent of web design in the early 2000’s
- The pop up box has reappeared, so that even if a customer has clicked the ‘X’ or ‘exit’ button.
- The products page itself is not particularly well laid out, there are no pictures of the products and you would need to scroll down through the product column to get a proper look at everything Coco Kaboo sells.
New Shopping Page
- Well planned and laid out; you can see a number of different products within a single screen page.
- You can see what the product looks like or what type of activity the product is associated with (Christmas time, getting your dog to quieten down or sleep).
- Other navigation panes are easily visible and accessible.
- Modern, sleeker and more sophisticated design.
Products and Reviews
Making a good impression on a customer doesn’t have to be difficult and if the customer has enjoyed their experience with your website, they may be inclined to leave some positive feedback or reviews on your product!
Customers are more likely to purchase something if it is highly recommended by strangers, they are a source of ‘social proof’ and generate a sense of trust in the store itself.
Original Product & Review Page
- The web design is outdated and it is not at all clear that you can actually purchase the product.
- There is no price tag or ‘buy now’ button anywhere.
- Reviews have stars next to them but are not highlighted or particularly obvious on the site.
New Product & Review Page
- Features a clear product name, description and price tag.
- The shopping experience is simplified as you can easily add multiple items to your cart.
- Customer reviews are highly visible and eye catching. They are easy to read and you can clearly see how many stars customers have given particular products.
- Overall cleaner, more sophisticated design.
It doesn’t take much for a customer to decide to leave the site and abandon a purchase so the less steps involved in that process, the better.
Things like having too many pop ups, a slow check out process, or not allowing certain payment options are all things that may result in an abandoned purchase
